"Leader Athlete of the Year"

Matthew makes trip to Clovis for The CIF Finals in the Pole Vault.  Matthew finished his high school career with a trip to Clovis and eventually getting a scholarship to UC Berkeley.  Matthew's hard work paid off.  He is now number 2 pole vaulter in John Burroughs History. With a vault of 15'6".

Congratulations Matt for a great senior year.

Class of 2012

Congratulations to our new Hall of Fame Members.  This year's induction ceremony will take place on Friday, September 7th, 2012 @ John Burroughs High School.  The ceremony will begin at 5;m in the Burroughs Main Gym.  At 6:30 their will be an award presentation on Memorial Field, followed by dinner and a JBHS vs North Hollywood football game.  This years "Hall of Fame" members will include Brady Riggs, Jayleen Romberger, Ron Stillwell and Bill Flora's 1955 Basketball Team. Those team members included the following players:  King Archer, Terry Arnold, Bill Bloom, Tom Crawford, Burton Dole, Steve Foster, Mickey Ford, Nick Georgino, Jack Marshall,Brian Marshall, roger Morris, Gordon Muhethaler, Jerry Persinger, Don Pulford, Tom Shollin, and Tom Waterman.

Mike Torrez Award

John Burroughs High School Outstanding Athletic.: Zander Anding was named All CIF-All-State- and Player of the Year in Football. Shannon Trujillo was named All CIF-1st team All League- and Awarded the Mike Torrez Award in Softball.  Anthony Monroy finished 9th @ the CIF Southern Div 1 Finals, was awarded the Mike Torrez Award, and Was League Champ.

John Burroughs Football Records Fall:
Several records were broken by the 2008 football team:
  1. Rushing: Dominiques Barnes is now # 2 All Time Rusher: 3080 yards (8.5 per carry) Kyle Thomas holds the record at 3309 yards.
  2. Receiving: Chris Morris is # 9 All Time Receiving.
Glenn Adriatico holds the record at 1049 yards.
  1. Scoring: Dominique Barnes is now # 1 he has 240 points. The #2   man is now Mike Perez.
  2. Indiviual Rushing for a Season: Dominique Barnes is #1 with 2001 yards. Number #2 is now Joe Wiggan.
  3. Tackles: Charlie Hosea is now # 2 All Time Tackler at JBHS. He had 131 tackles for the season. # ! Tackler is Matt Patterson with 154 tackles. PS
Jay Gudzin is Now # 10 All Time Tackler for JBHS.
  1. Individual Game: Dominique Barnes is # 1 with 304 yards vs Burbank.
# 2 is Now Mike Perez. Dominique Barnes is also Now # 4 and # 11.
  1. Longest Interception: Kole Adam-Hurd is now # 2 with 82 yard vs Glendale . # 1 is Kyle Cermarosa with 90 yards vs La Canada.
  2. Longest Punt return: Eddie Lopez 76 yards is now number 3 behind Bret Mersola who had a 99 Yard punt return.
  3. Longest pass play: Yanez to Morris 92 yards vs CV is now # 2 behind Scott to Adriatico 93 yards. Yanez to Morris also set up a 83 yard connection vs Burbank.
  4. Longest field goal: Michael Solano is now # 5 and 6 all time field goal both being 44 yards. # 1 is still Sinisa Spajic 59 yards.
John Burroughs 2008 team also broke several other records. Most rushing yards in a season (2957) Most points (76 vs Hoover) Most Yardage in a game 610 vs Arcadia

Traci Hamanaka

Hamanaka was named to the AVCA All-American Team for the second time in her career.  She previously earned the recognition in 2011. As Wellesley's starting libero, she racked up 486 digs this season, averaging 2.45 digs per set with just 40 receive errors. Hamanaka finishes her career at Wellesley as a two-time All-American, a two-time All-Region, and a two-time All-NEWMAC selection. She also racked up career totals of 1,245 digs and 96 aces.

Congratulations to Garrett Boulais 1st place Kenny Staub Invitational.  Also congratulations to the Varsity Cross Country teams 1st place finish!
