Indians Crush Pasadena, Cinch 1’st Place
The Burroughs Indians pounded out a 24-1 victory over the Pasadena JV Softball team Tuesday, in a game played at Pasadena HS. Kaitlin Cisneros went the distance for the win, allowing only five hits while walking only one batter.
The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and then put the game out of reach with a 17 run second inning. The inning was highlighted by back-back over the fence home runs from Jill Kukawski and Sabrina Englebrecht. Kukawski’s was a grand slam. Maille Romberger, Cisneros, and Daniela Gray each had five hits.
The Indians banged out 31 hits. In addition to the 2 home runs, the Indians had six doubles and two triples. Kukawski and Avery Mochrie each had two doubles, and Englebrecht, Cisneros, and Kelly Villanueva each had a double. Alanis Orozco and Gray each had a triple.
The victory improved the Indians’ record to 13-0 in the Pacific League and 19-2 overall. The Indians are in first place and have a two game lead over second place Burbank HS with one game left to play, and that game is against Burbank HS on Thursday, at McCambridge Park.
